Parks and Recreation in Celina


Although a small community, there are plenty of great recreational facilities for Celina residents to spend some time in the sun. The Celina Parks Department operates and maintains 3 excellent Community Parks. The largest city park is Old Celina Park (12670 FM 428). This facility offers baseball fields, multi-purpose sports fields, a catch and release pond, playground, and more. Founders Station Park is located downtown and has a quaint gazebo, tennis court, basketball courts, playground, and horseshoe pit. Located near Bobcat stadium, Preston Stream Park has a little league baseball field and basketball court. A short drive outside of Celina, Ray Roberts Lake State Park (100 PW 4137, Pilot Point) is a great outdoor destination in the area. Whether you love exploring nature on foot, bike, or horseback, or spending time on the water swimming, boating, or fishing, there is plenty of fun recreational activities to do at this state park. Celina residents also have access to all of the incredible recreational facilities located throughout the larger Dallas/Fort Worth area.



Education in Celina, Texas

Celina is served by two award-winning school districts, Celina Independent School District and Prosper Independent School District. Both districts have graduating high school seniors ranking among the highest in the University Interscholastic League competition and have strong academic and athletic programs. Celina ISD is a 3A district that boasts a designation of “Exemplary” by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and offers an extensive “honors and advanced placement” curriculum, as well as a gifted and talented program for all grade levels with the option of graduating with a Distinguished Achievement diploma. There are five schools within this district, serving students in prekindergarten through 12th grade. They include Celina Elementary School (550 South Utah), Celina Intermediate School (507 East Malone Street), Celina Middle School (706 East Pecan Street), Celina Junior High School (710 East Pecan Street), and Celina High School (3455 North Preston Road). Prosper ISD is now a 5A district with a proven commitment to academic excellence evident in its designation as a “recognized district” by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The district offers a top-notch curriculum, a low student-teacher ratio and quality educators. Celina’s student-teacher ratio is 13:1, 3.3% less than the Texas statewide student to teacher ratio and 18.1% less than the national student to teacher ratio. Celina students within Prosper ISD attend one of 4 elementary schools, including Baker Elementary (3125 Bluewood Drive, McKinney), Cockrell Elementary (1075 Escalante Trail, Prosper), Light Farms Elementary (1100 Cypress Creek Way, Celina), or Windsong Ranch Elementary (800 Copper Canyon Drive, Prosper). Students in grades 6th through 8th attend Reynolds Middle School (700 North Coleman, Prosper) or Rogers Middle School (1001 South Coit Road, Prosper). Prosper High School (301 Eagle Drive, Prosper) is the district’s one high school for students in grades 9-12.



Health and Transportation in Celina, TX

Celina residents have access to many excellent medical facilities located in neighboring communities. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney (5252 West University Drive) is the closest full service, comprehensive hospital. Other nearby medical facilities include Texas Health Prosper (1970 West University Drive), which offers outpatient and emergency care, and Baylor Emergency Medical Center (26791 Highway 380, Aubrey). There are also several urgent care clinics and family medical practices located throughout the area.


Texas State Highway 289 runs north to south directly through the center of Celina. This route connects Celina to the rest of the North Texas transportation network. Located only 40 minutes away, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (2400 Aviation Drive) makes it easy for residents to travel wherever they want to in the world.
